Daily Schedule

9:00-10:00 a.m.
Dictation for All Classes
(learning Jazz rhythms by singing and playing the rhythms)

Advanced Dictation
Call and Response to Ellington, Mingus, Parker, Coltrane and more. Taught by Dean McGraw and Michael Lewis

10:00-11:00 a.m.
Master Class
(Each instrument has their own session on melodic content of Jazz material. Example: learning the chords to MY FUNNY VALENTINE)

11:00 a.m - Noon
Group Ensembles
*Beginner
*Intermediate
*Intermediate-Advanced
*Vocal
(The level each student will be in will be decided upon their knowledge and ability to execute the previous two classes)

Noon-1:00 p.m.
Lunch
Provided, unless you have special dietary needs. If that's the case, please arrange to bring your own lunch

1:00-2:00 p.m.
Ensemble Playing
(learning from the Jazz classics by the masters, including Ellington, Parker, Fitzgerald and more)

2:00-3:00 p.m.
Dictation
(Call and Response dictation for all instruments. Focus is on playing over the blues)

Advanced Dictation
Call and Response to Ellington, Mingus, Parker, Coltrane and more. Taught by Dean McGraw and Michael Lewis

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. each day. Lunch will be provided
